Events Schedule R Spring 2008
April 23 Sunnyvale, CA 7:00–8:30pm Putting Your Home on a Carbon Diet: How to Use Less Energy, Save Money
and Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions Everyday Sunnyvale Public Library — Earth Day Presentation Info: www.sunnyvale.ca.gov/Departments/Library
Civic, community, environmental and spiritual leaders have begun calling for dramatic
reductions in the greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming. Across the country, people are embracing the
vision of the nonprofit group Architecture 2030: that by the year 2030, buildings should use no fossil fuels. Here in California,
the Energy Commission recently recommended that the state energy code be modified to require that new homes be zero-net energy
homes — producing more energy than they consume — by 2020.
What will it take to achieve these bold visions? How will we need to change the ways
we design and build our homes and live in them every day?
Whether you’re planning to remodel your current home, build a new one, or just
want to tune up your existing house or apartment, you can start taking steps today that will help make these daring dreams
a reality. Join Jennifer Roberts for a down-to-earth Earth Day talk about the easy and not-so-easy actions you can take
to make your home more fit to face the 21st century’s climate challenges.
